Attorney Jorge Vela is the founding lawyer at the Law Office of Jorge Vela, PLLC, a criminal defense and immigration firm serving Austin and Georgetown, Texas. A graduate of Vanderbilt University (B.A. 2006) and the University of Texas School of Law (J.D. 2011), Jorge began his career as a felony prosecutor in Webb County, where he handled serious violent crimes. He later served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Southern District of Texas, prosecuting large-scale drug trafficking organizations, alien smuggling, firearms offenses, and other federal crimes along the U.S.–Mexico border. In 2017 he moved to Austin and worked as an Assistant District Attorney for Travis County before opening his own firm in 2018. Today, Jorge uses his extensive federal and state trial experience to defend individuals accused of crimes and to handle complex criminal-immigration matters.
