When you are charged with a crime or simply under investigation by any police agency for any matter you have to remember two things. First if the police had enough evidence to charge you, they would without needing input from you. So, when any police officer asks you to cooperate. They are asking you to incriminate yourself with information they don't have and can't get. They will use everything you give them to charge you and create witnesses against you. This is your 5th amendment right to remain silent.
