Each and every citizen has certain inalienable and fundamental rights. The Constitution of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania declares these rights and so states:

All men are born equally free and independent, and have certain inherent and indefeasible rights, among which are those of enjoying and defending life and liberty, of acquiring, possessing and protecting property and reputation, and of pursuing their own happiness.”
The “pursuit of happiness” may be an arguably relative concept, but many people pursue happiness through the creation of family. Family is not an ambivalent concept.
