Personal Injury
Automobile accidents are a subset of a class of cases we handle, which in law school are called negligence cases. However, in everyday speak we call these accident cases. They involve a person being injured and someone else having negligently caused those injuries. Money is collected on these cases based upon the degree of physical injuries caused initially and residually (long term), the pain and suffering, and economic losses like the inability to be able to go to work or the need to hire others to do things for you as directly related to the accident. As your attorney, we hire experts to prove all of these points.
Social Security Disability
Social security cases fall into two classes: social security disability (SSD); and social security income (SSI). Broadly speaking SSD is applied for when you have a work history and you can no longer do any form of meaningful work because of an injury or illness. SSI is applied for when you have an injury or illness and can not work and satisfy the requirement of essentially being impoverished which translates at the time this writing to having total assets less than $3,500.00. A good example, though horrible in fact, is a child born without any eyesight will qualify for SSI.

Bankruptcy Chapter 7
Chapter 7 is know as a liquidation bankruptcy. Think of it this way: it literally flushes away all debts which are legally dis-chargeable, which means that you no longer owe those debts and no one can pursue collection of those debts from you. It usually is over 4-6 months from the date you file. You can only file bankruptcy once every 8 years. Dis-chargeable debts are usually all unsecured ones like credit cards, medical bills, back rent, repossessed cars and items and mortgage and home equity loans when you are giving the house back to the lenders.
Our primary practice areas include: Personal Injury, Bankruptcy, Workers' Compensation and Social Security Disability claims. The firm only represents individuals, who often have claims against other individuals, companies, or the government.
Importantly, unlike over the half the attorneys in the State of Michigan, WE ARE INSURED! This is not a mandatory requirement to practice law in Michigan. We pay for it to protect you which is one more reason, amongst so many, you can be comfortable with your choice of Cantarella & Associates, P.C. as your law firm. For decades we have been there bringing justice to one person, or family, at a time.
Our number one goal is to meet and exceed the expectations of our clients by providing top notch legal representation. We promote an atmosphere that encourages our associate members to take on a leadership role in the community. While our accomplishments over the past few decades have been great, we continue to strive to improve our services to our clients and to become an intricate part of the community.
