Bio |
Mary Kay's practice focuses on the mediation of family law matters, including: divorce, parenting plans, custody, paternity, child support, and the modification of domestic relations orders. Recognizing the destructive nature of litigation, Mary Kay focuses on resolving matters without the need for court intervention. Mary Kay is trained as a mediator and has been approved by the Office of Dispute Resolution as a Parenting Act mediator. She is also a Specialized Alternative Dispute Resolution mediator, which allows her to provide mediation services in cases involving domestic abuse.
Mary Kay represents clients before the Social Security Administration, who, due to accident, illness or mental health challenges, are unable to maintain employment because of their disability. Mary Kay assists clients with their applications to obtain Social Security disability insurance benefits, social security income, child dependency benefits, and disabled widow/widower benefits.
In addition, Mary Kay serves as special counsel to the Academic Rights and Responsibilities Committees at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and serves as general counsel for Region II Mental Health Services. Prior to returning to her home state of Nebraska, Mary Kay practiced in West Virginia where she was engaged in the private practice of law, served as Attorney for the City of Westover, and as a Commissioner on the City of Morgantown Building Commission. Mary Kay has been rated as an AV attorney, which is the highest rating granted by Martindale and Hubbel.
Holding the belief that one should give back to their community and profession through public service, Mary Kay regularly volunteers in the community. |
