Since law school, Jonathan Melmed has focused solely on high-stakes litigation. As a student, he completed two summer clerkships at a labor and employment firm handling class actions under California and federal wage-and-hour laws, supporting employees suffering workplace harassment, discrimination, and wage theft. He then clerked at a top-tier antitrust and complex litigation firm, assisting in cases involving antitrust, unfair competition, securities, trade-secret misappropriation, and other intricate matters across state, federal, and international courts. He also volunteered at the Disability Rights Legal Center, offering free representation to individuals with disabilities facing civil-rights violations.
After earning his J.D., Mr. Melmed joined a Los Angeles litigation boutique, representing insurers and managed-care firms in health, life, and disability insurance, as well as real-estate developers, hotels, restaurants, and hospitality clients. He handled dozens of bad-faith, ERISA, breach-of-contract, and related disputes in court and arbitration, and represented commercial clients in construction, leasing, corporate-duty, and real-estate contract cases.
In 2015, he founded Melmed Law Group P.C., dedicating his practice exclusively to complex employment litigation on behalf of employees. Serving as lead or co-lead counsel in dozens of individual and class-action cases in state and federal courts, his firm has assisted thousands of employees—successfully litigating over 100 class actions across California.
