Michelle Smith is a native Oklahoman. She attended Putnam City West High School where she ran cross country and was a member of the rodeo club. Michelle currently lives in Oklahoma City with her husband and daughter. She received a Bachelors of Business Administration from the University of Oklahoma and was employed as a business professional until 2004. She then enrolled in law school at Oklahoma City University School of Law.

Ms. Smith graduated magna cum laude from Oklahoma City University Law School in 2007. While in law school Ms. Smith was on the Dean's Honor Roll and was a merit scholar for the years 2005, 2006 and 2007. During law school Ms. Smith volunteered with Oklahoma Legal Aid Services in the area of family law. She also volunteered with Lawyers for Children at the Pauline Mayer Children's Shelter. Ms. Smith was a law clerk at Quick, McCown & Spradlin, a firm focused on family law, during her last two years of law school.

Ms. Smith was admitted to the Oklahoma Bar in 2007. She accepted a position as an associate attorney with Quick, McCown & Spradlin in 2007 and was named a partner in 2010. In 2011 Ms. Smith opened an office in south Oklahoma City where her practice continues to focus on family law.
