Employment Law Services
California anti-discrimination laws and federal/civil rights laws provide extensive protection for employees from discrimination in the workplace. If you have been denied employment or advancement, disciplined, or discharged from employment because of your race, color, national origin, age, gender, sexual orientation, disability or medical condition, veteran status, or religion, Ms. Holguin can help. If you are suffering sexual harassment on the job, Ms. Holguin can assist you. If you are having disagreements with your employer over use of the Family and Medical Leave Act - federal or state, contact Ms. Holguin. Terminations are considered wrongful if they are based on a violation of law, such as discrimination based on age, national origin, sex, religion, sexual orientation, or disability, whistleblower, among many other reasons.
Employees may not be paid wages, overtime, or vacation in accordance with the law, or they may be labeled as exempt from overtime when in fact, they are not. Employers are required to comply with federal and state wage and hour laws; however, they do not always do so voluntarily. If you are having wage and hour issues, Ms. Holguin can help.
The National Labor Relations Act (NLRA) ensures that employees in the private sector can engage in concerted activity, particularly through unions, with respect to their wages, hours and working conditions, and regulates the means by which employers and unions can negotiate collective bargaining contracts. Ms. Holguin has extensive labor experience handling unfair labor practice matters, union arbitrations, and contract negotiations.
