Texas business attorney, Charles M.R. Vethan, earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence at Southern Methodist University School of Law in Dallas, Texas, and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Alberta, Canada. Mr. Vethan served as an editor for The International Lawyer, as well as authored articles on international letters of credit, the role of insurance defense counsel in complex litigation matters, and Implied Licenses in Copyrights. He also presented courses through the National Business Institute to attorneys and CPAs on corporate structure and governance.
Mr. Vethan is one of less than 20 attorneys practicing in Texas who are double-board certified in Civil Trial Law and Consumer and Commercial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, and is AV Preeminent rated by Martindale Hubbell, an independent rating agency of attorneys in North America.
The AV Preeminent rating is awarded to attorneys with very high to preeminent legal ability, expertise, and professionalism in their field of practice.
Licensed in Texas and California, Mr. Vethan has been recognized by Texas Lawyer as having top Texas verdicts in 2010 and 2014.
Mr. Vethan’s area of practice is in complex trials in the United States federal district courts and state courts involving shareholder/partnership disputes, executive employment litigation, non-compete agreements, business-to-business contract disputes, corporate law, and intellectual property law (copyrights, trademarks, trade secrets, and non-disclosures). He has been lead counsel in complex litigation matters involving Shell Oil Company, Ralph Parsons Engineering, Union Oil of California, Sentinel Integrity Solutions, Global Check Services, and Mossberg Shotguns, litigating cases in Texas, California, Colorado, and Florida. Mr. Vethan’s primary practice focus is representing aggressively growing, privately held companies, with a business presence throughout the Southwest United States and abroad. With recent wins in Silicon Valley against a software firm that claimed to develop the prototype of Siri, and defending the Treasury Manager of the Stanford Financial Group in a $2.3 billion claim in federal court in Dallas, Texas, Mr. Vethan’s litigation business and IP litigation practice has expanded across the United States. |
