The attorneys at Helfand & Associates provide skilled legal services for individuals, families and small businesses in the counties of Morris, Essex, Sussex, Passaic, Bergen, Hudson, Warren, Monmouth and Union counties and throughout New Jersey.
We are known for our work as litigators, mediators and negotiators, whether working as a team or individually, we blend a wealth of experience and in-depth knowledge in the areas of matrimonial, divorce, and family law including but not limited to custody, alimony, child support/complex financial cases, prenuptial agreements and domestic violence matters.
Our attorneys’ work extends to bankruptcy for individuals and small businesses, Chapter 7 and 13. Plus, we provide legal defense for cases including theft, traffic violations, shoplifting, DWI, juvenile offenses and drug offenses in the municipal courts. We handle workers’ compensation claims, expungement and guardianship.
Our firm represents individual and business interests in all New Jersey State Courts, Federal Bankruptcy Court and Municipal Courts throughout the State. |

| With 25 years of legal experience, Ms. Helfand focuses her practice in the area of Family Law. Ms. Helfand has successfully represented both men and women with complex custody and financial matters through negotiation as well as trial through conclusion. Settlement is best, but sometimes pursuing the matter in court is necessary. Ms. Helfand is on the Superior Court’s Matrimonial Early Settlement Panel in Morris and Essex Counties. In this capacity she has successfully provided settlement recommendations to couples who have been litigating for an extended period of time, (often over a year). She is also referred by the courts as an economic mediator. She is a member of the Matrimonial Inn of Court in Northern New Jersey. She is direct and practical, and will always try to negotiate or mediate your matter first to resolve the case amicably; however, if you cannot obtain a fair and reasonable settlement outside of court, Ms. Helfand and her staff are prepared to properly represent you through the conclusion of the matter. |
